Youth and Family Activities

We try to offer opportunities for everyone to explore the Christian Faith and to come to know Jesus. There is no charge for any of these activities.


If you are intending to join a course of Further or Higher Education (including vocational courses) this autumn and you live within the boundary of the Parish of St. James, Staveley, you could be eligible for a small grant from the Jopson Educational Foundation.

This resource offers ideas and activities to continue you journey with Jesus, at home.

MESSY CHURCH is a chance to spend time together as a family; to enjoy fun and messy activities for all ages, to celebrate the bible theme of the day and to share food together.

WE would love you to join us for
Messy Church at St James staveley

To make messy church more accessible for more families We are considering changing the day from a Sunday afternoon to a school day afternoon either a Tuesday or a Thursday after school to 5pm once every half term.  We would love to know your views on this.

 Messy church is A chance to spend time as a family enjoying fun, activities, and great food, it is free and all are welcome, the only rule is that children must bring an adult who is responsible for them.

Cygnets logo CYGNETS is a short monthly service for pre-school children and their carers. Held in St. James' Church on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9.30am, our service includes musical instruments, action songs, a bible story simple prayers and an activity.

Our Bible Discovery Club for KS2 children runs Thursday 12.30-13.00 in Class 4's classroom during the second half of each term. Children sign up for the full half term.

 soul logoOur NEW YOUTH GROUP  - SOUL
        - Saving Others Using Love-
meets weekly on Tuesdays during term time from 5.30pm - 6.45pm in St. James' Church, Staveley. It is for young people in yr 6 and over. There is time and space for young people to meet friends, play games, chill out, drink hot chocolate and chat about life. We suggest a donation of £1  per session to help with activities.

We are running this new club in association with our Network Youth Church. For more information please contact Revd Shanthi
