Welcome to the Benefice of South Lakes

We are set within a beautiful and much-loved part of the Lake District.

Our six churches serve a range of distinct communities, from rural villages to busy tourist areas.

Each has its own character and history, yet we share a common commitment to worship God and serve our communities with generosity, hospitality, and hope.

Our Benefice (Troutbeck: Jesus Church, Windermere: St Mary's, Bowness: St Martin's, Ings: St Anne's, Kentmere: St Cuthbert's, and Staveley: St James) is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) in each parish. Our Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Joanne Van Lachterop.
